Fall at the Beach

I love the beach.  I just have to start by saying that.  I can’t get enough of it.  Growing up near the beach I have wonderful memories there.  It’s one reason I can’t move too far away from it.  When this family asked me to photograph them in November at the beach with their twins I was a little hesitant at first.  What if it’s too cold? What if it’s super windy and the kids aren’t happy?  These are the things that went through my mind.  But it ended up being surprising calm that day and everyone had a great time!

See, happy faces.

Then there were moments that told a little bit about what it’s like to be parents to twins.

I try my best to make family photo sessions fun and engaging for everyone.  The most important thing is letting the kids do their own thing and not even notice I’m taking photos because they are so involved in an activity.  Even little things like climbing on rocks or gathering shells.

But then you need that one photo where everyone is looking so you can see smiling faces. That’s when I jump up and down singing Old MacDonald, making animals noises.  Yep, that’s what worked this time.  It was so worth it.

One very important thing I learned very quickly a long time ago - I don’t stop photographing until I am in the car and my camera is packed up.  Some of my favorite photos are on the walk back.  Need I say more?
