Ok, so the title “Autumn is Here” is taken from my son’s newest book by his favorite author/illustrator. We got to meet him the other day, and it was very exciting for my son (and me for that matter, since I read his books often). That’s what’s going on in my life right now. Amidst our homeschool days, we read the book multiple times, so it’s in my head as I think about this autumnal post. Last fall I had the pleasure of meeting another homeschool parent and photographing her family.
What can I say - they were phenomenal! I mean, these kids were more than any photographer could hope for. When we started taking photos of just the boys, they hugged each other - without anyone asking them to. Next - I’ll pick you up! This is just how they are together. It was so refreshing to see brothers a few years apart in age love each other so much. You could tell they were best friends.
Then there was the newest addition to their family - the cutest puppy named Pixel. I’m so glad when clients bring their family dog. They are a part of the family and it helps everyone feel more comfortable in front of the camera. You definitely need some extra time when there is a dog involved though, and lots of treats.
Despite the millions of other photographers there that day, I am glad we chose Waveny Park as the location. It had the perfect warm and rusty fall colors we were looking for. It was prime foliage time after all, so Waveny was a popular spot. We did manage to find a nice quiet area away from it all.
Thank you for an amazing time. I can’t wait to do it again this year!
